We buy, lease, and plant trees for carbon credits. We are bulk suppliers ofcarbon credits to the large energy companies and oil companies who need carbon credits to meet their legal obligations.
To qualify, you must either; 1. Have a first rotation radiata forest of at least 200ha in size planted after 1989, or 2. Be planting a new forest (on land that was clear as at 1990 to ensure the land will be eligible to be registered for the ETS).
That depends on the age class of your forest and your harvesting plan.
The lease will expire before the cutting window opens.
Yes; its business as usual. You continue to do everything exactly the way you planned. There is no requirement that you continue tending or maintenance if you change your mind.
Yes; we will only need access once per year for a few days. We will schedule this to suit your timetable.
We have a forest planting program underway which will see us plant large scale new forests over 5 years – beginning in 2012. The carbon credits from these planted forests will not be sold. Instead, they are saved up each year until the end of your forest lease when they are used to ‘repay’ all carbon credits that have been claimed on your forest. We have a voluntary reporting program in place with MAF which enables MAF to monitor our progress towards accumulating the credits we will need to surrender at the end of each forest lease.
